Artist Statement:

I believe everyone has had the experience
of being moved by nature - a sunset, the smell of
summer rain, or that first look into the Grand
Canyon. I've noticed over the years that some
places or things always evoke a response in me. It's
something that transcends emotion. The emotional
tag is just the brain's way of making sense of the
experience. This greatly interests me.

The reality of a photograph is it's power. To present
a subject in it's raw actuality is a truth
I don't take lightly.  I treat my digital work
much in the same way I used to treat my film work,
without much alteration.  To do otherwise
would be cheating  myself and perhaps most
importantly - the subject.

On a personal level, seeing  and opening myself up to
the world around me is what my
work comes down to.  Connecting to something far
bigger than self and recognizing
how we are all connected - to everything.

Nature offers us a doorway to the infinite.
It is our greatest teacher.  As
technology progresses and our culture transitions
further away from the natural world, it's more
important than ever to open our eyes to the bigger
 reality that surrounds us.
